Approaching Narita Airport, I had compiled a list of things I was aiming to see in Japan. Three of those were: Sakura trees, even if not in season; the mystical great blue heron, able to traverse the three elements; and the Meguro River, which meanders beneath the cityscape of Tokyo, revealing itself only briefly along its course.
